SB 1147 – OPPOSE – Believe it or not this “Strike Everything” bill would allow anyone over 21 to use any tobacco product on school grounds!!!!

HB 2026 – OPPOSE – Prohibits teachers from speaking out or protesting in other ways about legislation or elections!!

SB 1485 – SUPPORT – This “Strike Everything” bill would cap the automatic growth of School Tuition Organization (STO) tax credits at 2% or inflation whichever is lower.

SB 1149 – OPPOSE- Another “Strike Everything” bill that adds authority to school governing boards to deny enrollment ot suspended students who are trying to transfer – most likely to be used to deny minority students from transferring.

SB 1098 – SUPPORT – Prohibits schools from denying access to “patriotic” youth groups who wish to speak for a limited period of time in a public school. Groups classified as “Patriotic” include Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Big Sisters-Big Brothers, Little League Baseball, etc.

HB 2186 – SUPPORT – Looks to be a “striker” bill that provides in-state tuition rates to “Dreamers” (originally was a bill to ban lunch “shaming” of students who needed help paying for lunch – that bill, unfortunately, was killed.

SB 1161 – OPPOSE – This bill has morphed into one that will require school districts to publish a list of vacant or partially used school spaces each year and would require school districts to accept bids from charter schools for those spaces if the charter school was the lowest bidder.  Clearly another attempt to promote charter schools at the expense of public schools.

HB 2523 – OPPOSE – Bill would exempt students working part time from getting the state mandated minimum wage!!!

SB 1353 – SUPPORT – Bill would provide diabetes care for Arizona’s Medicaid recipients.

SB 1355 – SUPPORT – Provides dental care for American Indians through the AHCCCS

SB 1098 – SUPPORT – Bill would create a pilot program that will provide grants to help individuals transition from public assistance to more secure housing.

SB 1366 – OPPOSE – Bill would expand tax exemptions to data center software – retroactive to 2013!!

HB 2616 – OPPOSE – Prohibits payment to those seeking petition signatures on a per-signature basis – also requires completed petitions to be turned in within 10 days, otherwise the petition registrars will go to prison!

SB 1451 – OPPOSE – A bill clearly designed to make citizen-initiated referenda almost impossible to get their necessary signatures on petitions.

HB 2724 – OPPOSE – Bill would practically negate the ability of the Citizen’s Clean Elections Committee to monitor and require clean elections practices.

SB 1090 – OPPOSE – Bill would strip away county recorder ability to institute emergency voting centers.

SB 1188 – OPPOSE – Bill would take anyone off the PEVL is they don’t vote by mail in two election cycle!

SB 1040 – SUPPORT – Bill would establish a committee to recommend improvements to information collection concerning the incidence and causes of maternal fatalities and severe maternal morbidity.  In AZ 20 women die for every 100,000 life births and 89% of those deaths are preventable!!

HB 2693 – OPPOSE – Allows parents dropping off or picking up children at school to have a loaded weapon in their car, if not visible!

SB 1072 – Express disappointment that the Governor signed this bill – a bill that makes it a requirement to have a photo ID to vote at early voting centers – a clear effort to disenfranchise minority and elderly voters.
