2020 Election Dates and Info

Attention:  All voting takes place on an official Ballot by Mail or at an official polling place, and voters are unable to vote online.

Presidential Preference Election: Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Note: While Independents may vote in the August Primary Election, voters not registered as Democrats may not vote in this Presidential Preference Election, which is where Democrats instruct delegates to their convention. Any person intending to participate in the Presidential Preference Election must be registered to vote as a member of the Democratic Party on or before February 18, 2020.

Democratic National Convention: July 13-16, 2020

All 50 states will send delegates to the Democratic National Convention, which will be held on July 13-16 2020 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. These delegates will formally nominate the Democratic Candidate for President. Delegates are bound by the results of the primaries and caucuses held in their states on the first round of voting.

Primary Election: August 4, 2020

In this election, registered voters in the State of Arizona are eligible to vote for their choice for the candidates to be nominated by their party for the General Election Ballot — other than for President. The outcome of this election will determine which candidates will represent the parties in the General Election.

Any person intending to participate must be registered to vote on or before July 6, 2020, to be eligible to vote in the Primary Election. Early Voting and PEVL Ballots are permitted during the Primary Election. Early Voting locations in Coconino County will be announced at a future time.

Attention: Independents may choose to vote on the Republican or Democratic Primary Ballot if voting at the polls on primary election day. If registered with the Permanent Early Voter List, Independents must call the County Recorder’s Office by 5 p.m. at least 11 days in advance of the election if they would like the party of their choice’s primary ballot to be mailed to their home. If an Independent is registered on PEVL but does not call the County Recorders office, the voter will not receive a ballot and must go to the polls to vote.

Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2020

Information about locations and times for voting will be posted here at a later date.
