Arizona Civics 101 (and RTS Training)
November 2, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join us to learn how the Arizona legislature is structured and how a bill becomes law in Arizona. Learn how you, as a citizen, can have a voice in this process!
Greer Warren (LD10 PC from Pima County) will present Arizona Civics 101, outlining the structure of the Arizona government, with emphasis on how a bill becomes law, followed by training in the Arizona Legislature Request to Speak (RTS) system. The RTS system allows citizens to voice opinions about pending legislation (bills) in committee, from the comfort of their own homes.
Your voice and your vote DO count. Involvement in state legislation is critical to our quality of life. Check out this link from CEBV to learn more about why you should care:
The entire presentation takes two hours; time for Q&A is built into that.
PLEASE RSVP to Darrell Boomgaarden so we know how many chairs to pull out! (Also, if we reach capacity at the office, we’ll change the venue so we need your contact info).
Participants are encouraged (but not required) to set up and activate their RTS accounts before the presentation. If you have an activated account, please bring laptops or tablets to the class.
Since active account creation is a two-step process, which involves checking in at an official legislative kiosk, Civic Engagement Beyond Voting (https://www.cebv.us/) has offered to assist people in setting up and activating their accounts:
Go the following link and fill out the form – https://us15.list-manage.com/subscribe…
Someone from CEBV will take your info to the kiosk at the Capitol in Phx, set up & activate your account (creating a simple password for you)
CEBV will email you back with the information
You then go in to the RTS site, per CEBV’s instructions to you, change the password to something personal to you, then you are ready to use RTS
