DORR BREAKFAST at HOME: “Heading off a GOP Trainwreck at the State Capitol”
February 18 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
The Democrats of the Red Rocks (DORR) Breakfast at Home will host “Heading off a GOP Trainwreck at the State Capitol” on Thursday, February 18th at 10:00 am on zoom. The zoom link is available on the DORR website https://democratsoftheredrocks.org/index.html.
Rebecca Rios, Melinda Iyer, and Natalie Burdick will discuss the flood of legislation activity at the State House. First elected in 1995, Senator Rebecca Rios is the Minority Leader in the Arizona State Senate. She has served in various leadership positions in both the House and Senate Chambers, and was the first woman to hold the title Democratic leader of the House (2016-2018). Melinda Iyer is the creator of the AZ Legislature Weekly Update, a condensed overview of the session’s notable bills. Often called “The Iyer Report,” Iyer describes each bill in everyday language, details its status for the week, recommends a stance for each bill, and cites multiple sources of information so readers can make up their own minds when using the Request to Speak system. Natalie Burdick managed the French for Arizona campaign for State Senate. Previously, she was co-chair of the San Francisco chapter Sister District Project, a grassroots organization founded in 2016 to win critical “down-ballot” state legislative races to shape the outcome of national elections and policies.
Toby Friedman of DORR will also speak about the DORR Action Committee and Request to Speak efforts.
DORR is an all-volunteer Democratic Club for Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, the Verde Valley, and surrounding communities that welcomes all independent-minded citizens. For more information, please visit: http://democratsoftheredrocks.org
