The Coconino County Democratic Party invites you to learn about Request to Speak — a method for lobbying our State Legislature from your own computer. Our trainer is Carmen Alexander from the Phoenix-based Civic Engagement Beyond Voting organization.

Seating will be limited, so please contact the office to sign up in advance. The opportunity is available on a first-registered, first-served basis. Email: or call 928-214-0393.

You will learn how to effectively use RTS and make your voice heard. Training will cover an overview of the RTS system, how it fits in the Arizona legislative process,  how to sign up, an interactive demonstration of RTS, and time for questions and answers. Once you complete this training, you’ll be equipped to show others how to use Request to Speak.
Arizona’s Request to Speak (RTS) is an online tool that lets everyday citizens give Arizona state lawmakers our feedback on bills. It’s an easy way to get involved in state politics, stay informed on the bills that directly affect us, and make sure our elected officials honor the wishes of us, their constituents. It is basically Facebook for legislators — use a thumbs up/thumbs down to tell them your thoughts on a bill! Reporters and legislators read your comments and use them in committee hearings and even on Twitter!
After a volunteer sets up and activates your account at the State Legislature, you will receive an email with instructions and the AZ Legislative Weekly Report/Iyer Report with calls to action every Sunday. It generally takes 20-45 minutes to weigh in on ALL the bills with calls to action so its a quick way to get your voice heard! Of course, you can spend less time by weighing in only on the bills that matter most to you.
Note:  We know this time will be inconvenient for many working people. Our hope is that once some go through this training, we will be able to offer Flagstaff-based trainings at more convenient times.
