THIS WEEK’S ALERTS: Demand that the Senate PASS the Reproductive Freedom for All Act!!; Get our Senators to pass the Grand Canyon Protection Act, Demand that the Right to Contraception Act gets passed ASAP!
- Get our Senators to support the Reproductive Freedom for All Act! The Reproductive Freedom for All Act would codify the core protections of Roe into federal law. It would also guarantee access to contraceptives and enshrine elements of other Supreme Court decisions involving reproductive rights.
According to the text of the bill, the court has long held that the provisions of equal protection and due process under the law contained in the 14th Amendment guarantee the right to make certain reproductive decisions without government interference.
Republican senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Maine’s Susan Collins along with Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine, and Kristin Sinema are co-sponsors.
Supporters say the bill is crucial in order to protect people’s ability to make their own healthcare decisions regardless of where they live.
- Arizona voters strongly support the Grand Canyon Protection Act (GCPA)!! This is the result of a recent survey by opinion research firm GQR. The support for GCPA is strong regardless of party affiliation or regional proximity. The act would permanently protect more than a million acres of federal land around the Grand Canyon from future Uranium mining. There has been a moratorium on new uranium mining claims placed over the Grand Canyon area since 2012. That moratorium is only to last 20 years. This act would make it permanent. A total of 67% of Arizona voters polled support the GCPA while only 15% are opposed to the act. The act has passed the US House but has been delayed and stonewalled in the Senate. Get our Senators to support the GCPA and get it passed!!
- Protect contraception access by getting our representatives to pass the Right to Contraception Act! In the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, there has been speculation about whether the right to birth control is also in jeopardy. There is no need to speculate: Access to birth control is already under threat! Policymakers who oppose reproductive freedom have begun challenging the constitutional right to birth control, are purposely conflating birth control and abortion to cause confusion, and are hiding attacks on birth control in anti-abortion legislation. Pharmacists have refused to provide contraception based on their personal beliefs, employers exclude birth control from health insurance, and states restrict where you can get contraceptive care. Pass the Right to Contraception Act!! Call our Representatives!
