Trump has made it clear that he doesn’t care about the people he harms in his personal mission to sabotage the ACA. He’s hurting American families in a shameful attempt to score political points and tear down President Obama’s legacy.
o After learning that Iowa requested permission to make certain changes to its ACA exchanges, the President went out of his way to personally direct HHS to deny their request.
- And if that wasn’t enough, he’s also slashed millions in funding for the ACA’s in-person outreach program, which has helped the nation’s most vulnerable populations and has helped hold down costs for everyone.
o Reports state that Trump will reduce spending on advertising for the ACA by 90%, from $100 million spent last year to only $10 million this year.
- The ACA is working: The CBO confirmed that under current law the health insurance markets will remain stable. But this won’t be the case if Trump and Republicans keep working to undermine healthcare markets.
o We still need to keep the pressure on the GOP and hold them accountable for fostering uncertainty in the marketplace and repeatedly taking steps to repeal health care and strip coverage from millions.
