LD-6 Campaign Update: 800 Doors Knocked in One Day

White Mountain Democrats knocked on more than 800 doors in Payson on Saturday to help win the Legislative District 6 race, which is critical to winning control of the Arizona Legislature.

Helping Wade Carlisle defeat State Sen. Sylvia Allen while also to defeating (Where’s Bob) Thorpe and McDaniel by electing Bobby Tyler and Felicia French for the Arizona House are ambitious goals. But these are doable goals if we continue to work hard.

White Mountain Dems helped Payson Democrats plan the day of action and promised to provide experienced canvassers. Payson Democrats responded to the offer with an overwhelming turnout. Together, 32 of 40 Payson neighborhoods were canvassed, amounting to more than 800 doors knocked. Canvassers found that a surprising number of Independents were willing to support the Carlisle-Tyler-French ticket.

In addition to the local Democrats, representatives of Save Our Schools/No On Proposition 305 joined the effort, as well as the campaign of Dr. David Brill for Congress. (Payson is in Congressional District 4.)

Increasing the Democratic share of the vote in Payson by 10 percentage points has been identified as one of the keys to winning Legislative District 6. Increasing Democratic turnout in targeted Flagstaff precincts is also key to our goal of adding 7000 votes to the Coconino County 2014 midterm turnout.  If we win LD-6, we’ll likely put Democrats in control of the Arizona Legislature for the first time in more than 50 years.
