Letter to the editor: Surprised by lack of standards for a president

After reading a recent letter to the editor, it appears that some people have minimum standards for voting for a president that do not include honesty, integrity, the rule of law, understanding and adherence to the Constitution, support and teamwork with our international allies, an understanding of the disastrous implications of global warming and a commitment to take corrective actions to mitigate it, draft-dodging and tax evasion. I could go on, but I have to say that I am surprised and saddened that many people do not have higher standards for presidential candidates.
