Sylvia Allen Says She Won’t Run!

Jeremy Duda, Arizona Mirror reporter, tweeted this morning that LD-6 State Senator Sylvia Allen says she won’t run for another term, even though she’s not termed out in until 2022. This is good news for Democrat Felicia French, who has announced she’ll run for the seat after losing her AZ House bid by just a few hundred votes in the last election.

Meanwhile, perennial far-right candidate Wendy Rogers, who ran for AZ Congressional District 09 in 2012 and 2014, and for CD 01 in 2016 and 2018 (against Rep. O’Halleran), has refreshed her website and is now running for AZ Senate in Legislative District 6. Rogers previously ran for state Senate in 2010. https://wendyrogers.org/

According to Duda, Allen says she most likely won’t seek re-election and that Rogers is running under that assumption. But Allen won’t announce her decision until after the legislative session adjourns — which may be as late as June.

Bob Thorpe is term-limited in the AZ House from LD-6. There’s always the possibility that he’ll primary Rogers and we can eat popcorn while we watch them duke it out as we did with the Allen/Barton and Thorpe/Blackman/McDaniel races in 2018.
