With the disasters of the two major mass killings in El Paso and Dayton, it is time to pressure Congress to reconsider their role in providing for the general welfare of the American people.
In support of the letter supporting “Save Our Children from Gun Violence,” the following is a recommendation to support the author and to maintain the rigors of the Second Amendment, the “right to bear arms.” I recommend the abolishment of automatic firearms in the public sector, including rifles, shoguns, pistols, revolvers.
Automatic firearms may continue to be manufactured but sold only to Law Enforcement Agencies and the military of the United States (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy and U.S. Marine Corp.). No automatic firearms will be permitted to be imported into the United States. No automatic firearms will be permitted to be transported across U.S. borders.
All automatic firearms currently in the public sector will be required to be turned in to a designated center like a Law Enforcement Office, and the owner will receive a refund based on presentation of receipt of purchase. The item(s) turned in must be recorded with the person’s name, address, age, serial number from the firearm and amount refunded. The money will come from the federal government.
All current non-automatic firearms will have their bullet capacity limited to six rounds per firearm, and this can be accomplished with a plug inserted in the tube in rifles and shotguns, and in magazines and clips in pistols and rifles and shotguns. The plugs can be manufactured by the firearm industry or by the owner of the firearm. No firearm will be allowed to be produced by or through artificial means.
The preamble to the Constitution asks us to “insure domestic tranquility, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.”
We can do it.
