Information from Congressman O’Halleran’s office re vaccine distribution in Arizona:
Statewide distribution will go to health care workers in the two metro counties (Maricopa and Pima) first. Pima and Maricopa counties will see the first 58,000 doses once the approved vaccine is made widely available, the governor’s office announced Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020.
Officials said the first batch of the vaccine should make its way to Arizona this week and roll out would begin right away, according to a news release from the governor’s office. Maricopa County will get 47,000 doses and Pima County will get 11,000 during the first week of distribution.
All other counties will get access to the vaccine next week, the release stated, along with four tribal nations and skilled nursing facilities enrolled in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Pharmacy Partnership — right now, all skilled nursing facilities in the state have opted into the program.
The Navajo Nation is also receiving 12K doses in the next two weeks. 3900 Pfizer next Monday and then if approved around 8K Moderna doses the following week.

The question remains: What happens after that?
The compromise COVID relief bill currently most likely to pass Congress this week will only provide enough funds to continue distribution through February 1 — just 11 days after Biden becomes President. The new Congress must act immediately upon convening in January to pass legislation to fund the distribution to all Americans. Of course, this is more likely to happen if Democrats win the two Georgia Senate seats in the runoff on January 5.
