Voting Rights and Filibuster AGAIN (Yes, we’ve done it before but super important, timely, and coming to a head:) For Senators Kelly and Sinema:
Please contact both Senators AGAIN and ask them to co-sponsor the “For the People Act” and the “John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act” and let them know their efforts are almost meaningless without their support for the removal of the filibuster.
Sample voice mail or email FOR EITHER SENATOR: “My name is XXXX and I live in XXXXX, Arizona. Arizona’s Republican legislators have currently introduced 19 horrible voter suppression laws. We urgently need your maximum support of the For the People Act (S1) and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act” (S4) to counteract this trend in Arizona and the nation.
I urge you to support removing or modifying the filibuster. If you refuse to do this, at least publicaly shoulder the responsibilty for finding 10 Republican senators to support these bills, so that we can have some hope of protecting our voting rights.
Sen. Sinema: Call (202) 224-4521 (DC) or (602) 598-7327. Email via her website at

For Senator Sinema: Support Dream and Promise Act – Obtain 10 Republican Votes:
Sample voice mail or email to Senator Sinema: “My name is XXXX and I live in
XXXXX, Arizona. I am strongly urging you to co sponsor and obtain ten Senate
Republican votes for the Dream and Promise Act which recently passed in the House. That Act would provide conditional permanent residency to millions of qualified and valuable young people brought to our country as young children. Given your stance on the filibuster I’m requesting you shoulder the responsibilty for obtaining at least ten Republican votes. Failing that you must modify your stance on the filibuster. Your position to maintain the filibuster, as is, dooms our Dreamers and their continuing insecurity will be on you – not a good legacy.”
Sen. Sinema: Call (202) 224-4521 (DC) or (602) 598-7327. Email via her website at

We need to protect our Dreamers who are part and parcel of our country. Finally, I’m asking that you support reform of the filibuster so that very important Acts such as this one have a chance of passage. Thanks.”

For Representative O’Halleran: For Congressional Hearings on Snowbowl
Expansion. Representative O’Halleran recently agreed to a late March meeting wth Indigenious leaders and the Sierra Club who are advocating the start of legislative field hearings on Snowbowl ski area expansion plans on federal land on the San Francisco Peaks. Snowbowl expansion has been opposed by all area Tribes for decades on religious and environmental grounds. The proposed legislative hearings would be led by Rep. Raul Grijalva, Chair of the House Natural Resources Committee and combine with Rep. Tom O’Halleran’s Forestry Subcommittee.
Script: “My name is XXXX and I live in XXXXX, Arizona.
“Thank you for agreeing to meet with Indigenous leaders and the Sierra Club regarding their request for congressional field hearings concerning proposed expansions of the Snowbowl Ski area. Our area tribes and the Sierra Club raise very legitimate concerns, religious and environmental, over any greater expansion of Snowbowl on our federal lands. I’d request you team up with Rep. Grijalva and hold those field hearings so that all stake holders can share their very legitimate concerns about any future expansion.” Rep. O’Halleran: Call (202) 225-3361 or send an email via his website at http://www.ohalleran.house.gov
