Arizona Veterans Legislation Proposals 2022 – Jackson Law (jacksonlawgroupaz.com)
There is a lot happening in the Arizona Legislature but its pretty much behind the scenes and in secret. The biggest issue is the budget. Arizona has a whopping $5.3 BILLION surplus this year and Republicans are focused on how to give a lot of that money to the state’s elite in the form of draconian tax cuts. There is a ballot proposition that has been successfully approved to be on the November ballot that would repeal the 2.5% flat tax that the legislature passed earliers. To counter this voter-initiated disapproval, Republicans are considering repealing the prior flat tax legislation – which would NEGATE the planned ballot measure – and then passing another flat tax proposal with slightly different details. This would require a totally new effort to get a ballot measure on the ballot.
This week is similar to last week – with a whole list of very bad bills eligible for floor votes and potential passage at any time. To voice your position on these bills you will need, for the most part, to appeal to our representatives directly via email or phone. These bills are coherently listed on the CEBV legislative alert from last week, 4/3, and are still viable since not much was done on these bills in the past week.
You can see the CEBV list of bills here:

Here’s a link to a listing of the “Active” bills that may come up for floor votes this coming week (it is not complete since not all bill agendas are available yet):

Check this link as the week progresses to see what bills are coming up for votes. In all of these cases, the best option is to contact the President of the Senate (Karen Fann) or the Speaker of the House (Russel Bowers) and ask them to NOT bring these bills up for a floor vote.
