USE RTS FOR THESE BILLS
HB 2945 & SB 1734 – OPPOSE – These bills are identical. They both deal with funding for the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) which serves severely disabled Arizona families. There are about 59,000 such families affected. The program allows qualified vendor agencies to hire trained parents as direct care workers in providing care for their severely disabled children. These bills would cap payment of services for such parents at 20 hours per week! This restriction would force people to enter institutions, tear children from their families, and cause state costs to skyrocket. These bills would also take funds from other critical services such as the Housing Trust Fund. Additionally, they would tie up families in red tape by requiring the legislature to approve any move by the Governor to use Medicaid funds to start, end or renew any program. Use the comments section of RTS to tell legislators to fund a “clean” bill to support DDD.
CALL LEGISLATORS DIRECT FOR THESE BILLS SCHEDULED FOR FLOOR VOTES
SB 1280 – OPPOSE – Finchem – Would make the “cast vote record” (a receipt of everything scanned by a voting machine) a public record. Election deniers insist baselessly that this document will detect fraudulent voting patterns. This has previously been vetoed by Governor Hobbs.
SB 1375 – OPPOSE – Finchem – Would force recorders to let anyone download voter registration rolls for free. This would greatly compromise our election integrity.
SB 1269 – OPPOSE – Rogers – Would let district and charter school boards allow volunteer school chaplains into to schools to provide support, services or programs to students. The bill does not specify what chaplain’s roles would be, nor set any training or certification requirements or require that students from a variety of faith traditions to be accommodated. Tracking people’s religious affiliations alone is dangerous.
SB 1538 – OPPOSE– Would raise the “trigger” for requiring a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility for power plants – allowing the construction of gas power plants next to communities without any environmental analysis.
HB 2679 – OPPOSE – Would relieve electric utilities of responsibility for wild fires caused by their infrastructure and would allow them to issue bonds to pay for debt in assets without proper accountability, oversight, or consumer protection, and could shift major costs to future ratepayers.
HB 2774 – OPPOSE – STRIKER – Prohibits counties from regulating the location of small modular nuclear reactors if they are co-located with a large industrial electricity user.
SB 1520 – OPPOSE – STRIKER – Would establish some Basin Management areas for some key areas but ignores other critical areas. It sets very low requirements on groundwater pumping reduction. Levels set are way below what is required to stabilize the aquafers affected.
SB 1268 – OPPOSE – Rogers – Would require hospitals that accept Medicare to include on admission or registration forms a space for the patient to indicate their U.S. citizenship status. This sets a dangerous precedent and will discourage injured or ill people from getting treatment for fear of persecution.
HB 2121 – OPPOSE – Would impose mandatory employment on SNAP benefits.
HB 2122- OPPOSE – Would prohibit SNAP work requirement waivers and exemptions.

SB 1164 – OPPOSE – Sometimes called the “Evil ICE Act”. Would require local law enforcement to totally comply with all federal law enforcement and ICE agencies in the arrest and incarceration of immigrants.
HB 2007 – OPPOSE – Would make it illegal for anyone to receive money or other compensation for registering people to vote.
HB 2058 – OPPOSE – STRIKER – Would allow college students to be exempt from vaccine requirements with little proof or reasons for doing so.
HB 2060 – OPPOSE – Would require all federal elections to be run in Arizona according to state election law. Clearly unconstitutional since federal law is supreme to state laws on the same subject.
HB 2062 – OPPOSE – Would remove any reference to gender in Arizona law and replace it with “Sex”, defined as the male or female label assigned at birth. This would eliminate any legal recognition of transgender people and raise the risk of their experiencing violence.
HB 2063 – OPPOSE – Would require schools to tell parents about Arizona’s liberal opt-out law n all communications about vaccines.
HB 2126 – OPPOSE – Would require health entities to give parents access to all of their minor children’s medical records, even for services that do not require parental consent. Would strip minors of their right to medical privacy.
HB 2203 – OPPOSE – Technical litigation that ultimately would lead to greater ground water pumping.
HB 2270 – OPPOSE – Would double count water from stormwater recharging in water availability leading to over pumping.
HB 2099 – OPPOSE – Would require the Governor and the Attorney General to cooperate fully with Trump’s “mass deportation” orders.
