HB 2704 – OPPOSE – Would give a $1 Billion tax-payer funds over 30 years to renovate Chase Field for the Arizona Diamondbacks. This will raise taxes, has little public benefit and billionaires don’t need our money to build/renovate stadiums.
USE RTS ON THESE BILLS – MOVING TO RULES COMMITTEE THIS WEEK
LD 7, 6 and 1 LEGISLATOR SPONSORED BILLS
SB 1280 – OPPOSE – Finchem – Would make the “cast vote record” (a receipt of everything scanned by a voting machine) a public record. Election deniers insist baselessly that this document will detect fraudulent voting patterns. This has previously been vetoed by Governor Hobbs.
SB 1375 – OPPOSE – Finchem – Would force recorders to let anyone download voter registration rolls for free. This would greatly compromise our election integrity.
PUBLIC SAFETY
SB 1705 – OPPOSE – Would prevent cities and counties from having stricter gun laws than the Arizona state statutes. Prevents cities and counties from adequately protecting their citizens.
VOTING RIGHTS
HB 2154 – OPPOSE – Would remove the requirement to try and contact a voter to update their address if a ballot notice is returned undeliverable.
EDUCATION
SB 1584 – OPPOSE – Would ban public schools from implementing hiring policies based on factors other than “merit” as part of MAGA attack on DEI.
LGBTQ+ RIGHTS
SB 1586 – OPPOSE – Would force health care professionals to pay for medical costs as well as potential damages, pain and suffering, and loss of income costs to anyone who seeks to change their gender transition procedures done as long as 25 years in the past. A clear attempt to harass providers about future liability for gender transitions.
ENVIRONMENT
SB 1523 – OPPOSE – Would prohibit open space requirements beyond basic water retention. It also prohibits requiring trees. Excessive limitations on open space requirements.
HB 2201 – OPPOSE – Would relieve electric utilities of responsibility for wild fires caused by their infrastructure and would allow them to issue bonds to pay for debt in assets without proper accountability, oversight, or consumer protection, and could shift major costs to future ratepayers
SB 1538 – OPPOSE– Would raise the “trigger” for requiring a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility for power plants – allowing the construction of gas power plants next to communities without any environmental analysis.
RTS PROBABLY NOT EFFECTIVE – CONTACT LEGISLATORS / HOUSE/SENATE LEADERS DIRECTLY
IMMIGRATION
SB 1164 – OPPOSE – Sometimes called the “Evil ICE Act”. Would require local law enforcement to totally comply with all federal law enforcement and ICE agencies in the arrest and incarceration of immigrants.
ENVIRONMENT
HB 2201 & HB 2679 – OPPOSE – Would relieve electric utilities of responsibility for wild fires caused by their infrastructure and would allow them to issue bonds to pay for debt in assets without proper accountability, oversight, or consumer protection, and could shift major costs to future ratepayers.
HB 2774 – OPPOSE – STRIKER – Prohibits counties from regulating the location of small modular nuclear reactors if they are co-located with a large industrial electricity user.
SB 1520 – OPPOSE – STRIKER – Would establish some Basin Management areas for some key areas but ignores other critical areas. It sets very low requirements on groundwater pumping reduction. Levels set are way below what is required to stabilize the aquafers affected.
