- Demand our House Representative strongly reject the House budget resolution under consideration that would cut at least $880 billion from potentially Medicaid over the next 10 years!! In Congressional District 2 over 201,000 people are currently covered by Medicaid. If the Republican cuts are allowed to go into effect, it could mean a loss of $2.5 Billion per year for CD 2 and would mean over 71,000 people would be dropped from the Medicaid roles in CD 2. Of the total covered by Medicaid in CD2, fully 93,000 are children – almost 52% of all the children in CD 2. In Arizona as a whole, over 2.0 million people are covered by Medicaid. Medicaid in Arizona covers 1 in 6 adults, 3 in 8 children, 5 in 9 nursing home residents, 1 in 6 Medicare beneficiaries, and 1 in 3 working age adults with disabilities. Over 56% of adults in Arizona on Medicaid are working. Finally, over 46% of all births in Arizona are covered by Medicaid. If Eli Crane truly represents us he will REJECT the House budget proposal to decimate Medicaid!!
- Insist that our Members of Congress preserve funding for NPR and PBS despite the threats from Trump!! On Thursday, 5/1, Trump issued an executive order directing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to cease federal funding for NPR and PBS. It is likely, Trump does not have the authority to suspend funding for NPR and PBS. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is not a federal executive agency, subject to the President’s authority (according to PBS President and CEO, Paula Kerger. Congress directly authorized and funded CPB to be a private nonprofit corporation wholly independent of the federal government. Demand our Members of Congress fully support the independence and continued federal funding of NPR and PBS!!
