If you are willing to speak to your personal experience with Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or SNAP programs, and how House Republicans’ willingness to force a default on the nation’s debt in order to make cuts to these vital programs is extreme and dangerous. Storytellers should be willing to speak about how we must protect programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP and why, and willing to call out their Republican Members for supporting cuts to these programs. If you are interested, you can email Amber Singh at .
Americans count on Social Security for retirement and rely on Medicare and Medicaid for prescription drugs and essential care. After a lifetime of hard work and paying in, these programs allow Americans to live and age with dignity and respect.
Some in Congress want to end these guarantees by refusing to pay America’s bills. They would rather default on our debt obligations or make extreme cuts to hard-earned benefits than protect the seniors, veterans, teachers, health care workers, small business owners, and millions of Americans they swore to serve.
Ahead of the default crisis deadline this summer, Courage for America will drive a bus across the country to call on House members to promise their constituents they will not play politics with their hard-earned benefits and send a strong message to House leaders that Americans are paying attention. Kicking off in McCarthy’s district in Bakersfield,
CA at the end of March when members head home for recess and finishing up in D.C. to mark Speaker McCarthy and the MAGA House agenda’s 100th day, the tour will elevate stories of communities impacted by extremists in the House who are willing to put the country’s economic stability and Americans’ livelihoods at risk for political gain.
From Rep. Schweikert’s home district in Arizona to Rep. Stefanik’s in New York, the Courage for America bus will stop in over ten districts to remind key members of the MAGA conference that Americans do not want to see programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid cut, voucherized or privatized. At each tour stop, Courage for America — joined by members of our council, local community leaders and elected officials, and other special guests — will invite each House member to meet with their constituents and sign a promise to always protect their hard-earned benefits.
