- Demand our Senators work to confirm NLRB Chair Lauren McFerran’s nomination and ensure a pro-worker majority on the Board through 2026! Stagnant wages and gaping inequality are among the biggest reasons for Social Security’s funding shortfall. Strong unions that fight for better wages reduce inequality and put more money into worker’s pockets – and into Social Security’s trust fund. Right now we are facing unprecedented attacks on workers’ rights. Corporations like Amazon, SpaceX, and Trader Joe’s are challenging the constitutionality of the National Labor Relations Act, while Project 2025 threatens to undermine worker protections. If confirmed, Chair McFerran will maintain a pro-worker majority on the board until 2026. If not, Trump will gain control of two Board seats, shifting the balance to a conservative majority. The NLRB’s mission is to protect our rights as workers to organize, form unions, and bargain collectively. We need to do everything we can to safeguard these functions! Insist our Senators do everything they can to confirm Chair McFerran’s nomination ASAP!
- Ask President Biden to order background checks on all of Trump’s cabinet picks!! Trump has steadfastly refused to initiate FBI background checks on his Nominees. The FBI has conducted background investigations of White House nominees since at least the tenure of President Eisenhower’s time in office (that was over 70 years ago). The Presidential Transition Act of 1963 directs the FBI to conduct such background checks “expeditiously” for “individuals that the President-elect has identified for high-level national security positions.” President Biden has the authority to order these FBI background checks if the President-elect fails to do so according to legal scholars. It is up to the last vestiges of Democracy (for at least a few years) to do what they can to protect American institutions from wholesale dismantling, or worse – while they still have the power and authority to step up and ACT. Tell President Biden that America is counting on him to DO THE RIGHT THING – Order FBI checks on Trump’s nominees ASAP!!
- Ask our Senators to help save America’s wildlife before its too late – support S-1149! One-third of wildlife species in the U.S. are at risk of becoming threatened or endangered. From songbirds to sea turtles, species we cherish are vanishing due to habitat loss, increasingly severe weather, and the changing climate. The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (S-1149) can change that. The bill will invest $1.3 Billion annually in state-led conservation projects and $97.5 Million for Tribal-led efforts to restore habitats and protect vulnerable wildlife. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to save more than 12,000 at-risk species, create jobs and grow the outdoor economy. Insist our Senators pass S-1149 ASAP!!
- Demand our Senators refuse to confirm Pete Hegseth to the position of Secretary of Defense! Pete Hegseth has no qualifications for the job. He has never run a large organization and has no national security expertise. Hegseth has zero notion of which other countries threaten America or how. He does not believe in alliances. For him “NATO is a great example of dumb globalism.” Hegseth wants a political army that bans women from combat roles, is purged of “cowardly” generals and is anti-woke. Hegseth’s misogynist gender politics are consistent with his polygamy and the accusations of rape. Hegseth’s enemies are all internal: the Left, Muslims, and immigrants. Hegseth, a Christian Reconstructionist, believes Americans should be governed not by law or by the Constitution but by God – as interpreted by Hegseth and his friends. Tell our Senators that Hegseth’s anti-qualifications for Secretary of Defense are so blatant and obvious that our national security demands he be denied that role!!
