- Demand our Senators refuse to confirm Trump’s terrible cabinet nominee, Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence!! Gabbard has a history of changing her viewpoints and her values depending on who is in power. She has no loyalty to the American public and will use her position as a MAGA loyalist to continue to cozy up to dictators like Vladimir Putin and spread dangerous propaganda that undermines the safety of our communities. We must demand that our Senators reject this self-interested Trump nominees who will put their profits over serving everyday Americans and instead select people who protect our freedoms and lives! Tulsi Gabbard MUST NOT be allowed to control our National Intelligence!!
- Consider expressing your thoughts to all of our representatives on the Laken Riley Act just passed by the House and on its way to the Senate. This act was named after the Georgia nursing student who was killed in February, 2024 by Venezuelan immigrant Jose Ibarra. Ibarra was an illegal immigrant who had been cited for shoplifting. This act would allow the detention of illegal immigrants for any non-violent offense. This act could unfairly target people who have yet to be convicted of any wrongdoing and includes no exceptions for immigrants like DACA recipients, who have been granted legal shield from deportation. Eli Crane, Mark Kelly, Ruben Gallego (and Katie Hobbs) have all signaled they will support this act. This is a difficult and complex issue filled with mixed compromises on values. Consider how you feel and let our representatives know – one way or the other.
- Eli Crane will serve on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability as well as the House Committee on Home Security! With these appointments, Crane has considerable influence on many issues important to Arizona and to the integrity of acts by the House. We need to let Crane know that we will expect him to exercise a high level of integrity to both these positions. Crane has taken the oath to protect the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic, many times. He has not exactly practiced these oaths in his prior two years based on his position in support of the January 6 insurrectionists and his insistence that Trump won in 2020. We need to let him know that this term our expectation is that he actually fulfill his oath and defend the Constitution from Trump’s existential attacks on it. Let him know how you feel!!
- Ask the Attorney General, Merrick Garland, to fully release the complete report by Special Counsel Jack Smith on both investigations into Trump’s wrongdoings. Garland has the choice to release the full reports behind Trump’s alleged crimes before he takes office. He is currently only planning on releasing the report dealing with Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election and not releasing the report on Trump’s stashing over 300 classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. If AG Garland does not release these reports, Trump will cover it up for good when he takes office. Trump was indicted for serious crimes in his classified documents case, including stealing and hiding classified White House files at his Mar-a-Lago resort, willfully endangering our national security, and trying to cover his tracks every step of the way. The American public deserves to know the truth behind the serious crimes our incoming president is accused of!!
