Stand Against Hunger

It seems unbelievable that in our country, in 2013, widespread hunger is a huge issue. In our own community, 22,000 people live below the poverty level. Hope lies in the newly expanded Flagstaff Family Food Center Food Bank and Kitchen. Founded in 1991, the center has served almost two million means to needy families. Now the need is even greater, considering Congressional (Republican) intent to make massive cuts in SNAP.

Holiday food drives are wonderful, but more effort is needed. Who better to stand against hunger than Democrats?

We are proposing a continuous food drive for our community. We’re planning on instituting various locations and time frames where food and other needed items can be donated in an ongoing manner throughout the year. For now, bring donations to the Coconino County Democratic Party Headquarters (and use those great, 15 minute parking spaces on Agassiz!)

Donations for FFFC/Food Bank

Canned Food (any type)

Rice (brown and white)

Salad Dressing

Spices

Juice (powdered – large size)

Aluminum foil

Paper cups

You can get an Arizona Tax Credit by donating to the food center!

More news to come as the plan comes together. All ideas and suggestions are welcome. Let’s do this! Call the office (928-214-0393) or Sue Strobel (928-527-0103)
