Violence Not Protected by First Amendment

The discussion of different beliefs and political philosophies should be encouraged in a free society, and especially at a university campus. But making threats of violence against university professors is reprehensible and not protected speech. Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes opined “The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man falsely shouting fire in a theater… ”
