Statement of the Coconino County Democratic Party:
Today, the Arizona Senate finally had enough of Wendy Rogers and censured her. Some Republicans even joined in — it’s about time. Senator Rogers’ behavior has been deplorable for a very long time. The fact that she appeared in Florida at a convention of White Nationalists finally lead to national media coverage of what we in her district have listened to since the 2020 campaign. The formal censure did not mention her racism or anti-Semitism, only her threats to other politicians. Therefore, please excuse us if we do not praise the Republicans in the Arizona Senate who voted today — after embarrassing national exposure — to censure her. It’s the least they could do and it’s been too long coming.
Soon a Democratic candidate will announce that he has entered the race to replace her in this vital midterm election. We urge all voters of any party who believe in basic decency to support his campaign. Watch this space.
