A. Demand our House Representative support the EACH Act!!! The Each Act is the Equal
Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance. This is the first piece of abortion
access legislation introduced in the new Congress. It would end the Hyde Amendment –
an archaic, decades-old provision that bans abortion coverage for people enrolled in
Medicaid and other federal programs – and the EACH Act would prohibit the federal
government from interfering with private insurance companies that choose to cover
abortion care. Insist that our representative support the EACH Act!!
B. Demand our Representatives support the bill to establish a reservation for the San
Juan Southern Paiute Tribe!! In 2000 the Navajo and Paiute tribes signed a treaty
earmarking 5400 acres of land in northern Arizona and southern Utah as a new
reservation for the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe. Congress has to ratify the
agreement but has neglected to do so for over 20 years!! A bill to ratify this agreement
was introduced last year by Tom O’Halleran and it has been re-introduced by Eli Crane.
We need our representatives to get this passed!!
C. Millions expected to lose dental care coverage after Medicaid review!! We need our
Representatives to do whatever they can to reverse the potential for almost 14 million
people or 25% of adults enrolled on Medicaid who may lose dental coverage as each
state re-evaluate eligibility for Medicaid for people now that the Covid Emergency is
over. In Arizona, for example, this review could affect as many of 600,000 Arizonans of
the 2.2 Million who are on Medicaid in our state. Demand our Representatives do
what they can to prevent this wholesale elimination of critical benefits to our poorest
citizens!!
D. Ask our Representatives to pass a STRONG 2023 Farm Bill to support people facing
hunger. The farm bill is the cornerstone anti-hunger legislation at the national level.
Every five years, Congress has the chance to strengthen critical federal nutritional
programs. These include the Emergency Food Assistance (TEFAP) which sends food
from farms to food banks – critical assistance. Also, the Supplementation Nutrition
Assistance Program (SNAP) which provides monthly grocery assistance to 40 million
people. And the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) which sends boxes of
nutritious food to seniors. Insist our Representatives support a STRONG Farm Bill in
2023!!
