FEDERAL ACTION ALERT –May 29, 2023
- Join the Grand Canyon Tribal Council in asking President Biden to establish a new monument. The one at issue is called Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni Grand Canyon National Monument. It would protect over one million acres adjacent to the Grand Canyon National Park. Baaj Nwaavjo means “where tribes roam” for the Havasupai Tribe, and I’tah Kukveni means “our footprints” for the Hopi Tribe.
- Demand our House Representative support a clean debt ceiling bill ASAP!!! According to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen the date at which the US will default on its debt is June 5. The consequences of a debt default would be devasting. Millions of jobs lost, our economy plunged into a recession, countries around the world seeing the US not live up to is word. Republicans stated goal as vocalized by the anti-tax activist Groer Norquist, is to cut the US Government “down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub.”!! The Republican view seems to be to view Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Meals on Wheels, and veteran benefits as burdens to be hack away. Under Donald Trump the deficit increased by $8 TRILLION and the debt ceiling needed to be raised 3 times – and not once was there any Republican demanding spending cuts to control the deficit. But NOW its different somehow. DEMAND Eli Crane support a clean debt ceiling increase NOW!!!
