FEDERAL ACTION ALERT –May 8, 2023
A. Demand our House Representative support the EACH Act!!! The Each Act is the Equal
Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance. This is the first piece of abortion
access legislation introduced in the new Congress. It would end the Hyde Amendment –
an archaic, decades-old provision that bans abortion coverage for people enrolled in
Medicaid and other federal programs – and the EACH Act would prohibit the federal
government from interfering with private insurance companies that choose to cover
abortion care. Insist that our representative support the EACH Act!!
B. Demand our House Representative renounce the “Limit, Save, Grow” Act!! This right-
wing fantasy would cause untold harm and may plunge our country into a recession.
Republicans are using the debt limit as an excuse to remove 1.7 million women and
children from their SNAP (Food stamps) benefits, would cut $30 Billion from Veterans’
programs, would kick 100,000 children out of childcare, would deny more than
1,000,000 families affordable housing, would impose onerous requirements in order to
access Medicaid health insurance, and more! The Debt Ceiling is NOT new spending it is
intended for the US to pay its debts ALREADY passed by Congress!! Demand
Representative Crane denounce this draconian act and PASS a clean debt ceiling bill!!!
C. Let Representative Crane know just how you feel about his NEWSLETTER! This “One in
the Chamber” tabloid with “Trigger Points” and “High Caliber Rounds” and “Front Site
Focus” sections is offensive and disingenuous to many. Representative Crane, who
voted for the ‘Limit, Save, Grow Act” is no claiming that it doesn’t reduce Veterans
spending by 22%. He says this because the actual bill never says anything about
Veterans. What it does do is reduce spending everywhere to the 2022 levels. This was
before the last Congress passed bills aimed specifically at helping Veterans who were
exposed to toxic chemicals and other measures to improve Veterans benefits and
health. You don’t have to mention Veterans in your bill if what it means is to reduce
funding to a prior level = which is the 22% drop in Veterans health benefits from what
they are TODAY!! Insist Representative Crane own up to what he has done!!
D. Ask President Biden to direct the IRS to disallow FOX News from being able to deduct
the Dominion Voting Systems $787 Million settlement from their taxes!!! Federal Law
allows taxpayers to write off many legal costs, providing that they are “ordinary and
necessary”. The IRS has affirmed that paying out settlements is a legitimate cost of
doing business. Let President Biden know that you don’t feel taxpayers should subsidize
defamation and conspiracy theories. Under current guidelines FOX will get a $213
Million dollar credit from the settlement with Dominion. The IRS should come up with
a solution that doesn’t require taxpayers to support businesses that tell lies so that
they get viewers and have tons of advertising revenue!!!
