A. Strongly urge all of our Representatives and President Biden to forcefully
seek an immediate humanitarian cease fire in Gaza!! The United Nations
Secretary General is warning that Gaza is becoming a “graveyard for
children”. A child is killed in Gaza every 10 minutes and 67% of the people
killed in Gaza have been women and children, according to the World
Health Organization. As of November 10, at least 27,000 Palestinians have
been injured in addition to 1,200 Israelis and 11,000 Palestinians killed
since the horrific attack by Hamas on October 7. That attack by Hamas was
just terrible and Israel has every right to react forcefully. No one is
questioning that. However, the strategy to remove and destroy Hamas in
Gaza while preventing civilian harm as collateral damage is not working. A
humanitarian cease fire is critical to getting help to the innocent
Palestinians and to create time to find a better solution. Israel’s five-week
long bombardment – including air strikes hitting hospitals, UN shelters,
schools, and refugee camps – and its ongoing actions to cut off life-
sustaining supplies are widely recognized by human rights groups to be
collective punishment. The violence has spiraled into attacks on
Palestinians in the West Bank – and the risk of further escalation into
regional war grows by the hour. Many of the families of the hostages still
held by Hamas are also expressing anger and fear about the safety of their
loved ones in the bombardment zone. Call on our Senators and our
Representative and President Biden to publicly insist on an immediate
humanitarian cease fire and to use their positions to push for an end to
hostilities to deliver urgently needed humanitarian assistance and to
ensure the hostages are released!!
