First, the Head of the EPA publicly denied the effect of greenhouse gasses on climate change. Second, President Trump’s proposed budget calls for reducing the staff and budget by over a fifth. I like most of your constituents strongly support clean air and clean water and am more engaged than ever. Please oppose and vote against any cuts to the EPA’s budget and hold Pruitt accountable if he chooses to side with his allies in the fossil fuels industries rather than with his scientists in the EPA. Second, please oppose efforts by House Republicans especially Lamar Smith to alter and weaken scientists authority at the EPA. Scientific independence is what allows the public to have so much confidence in the EPA.
