We’ve got one Legislative District in Coconino County that is sure to deliver three Democrats in our statewide push to take back the legislature. But that can only happen if we get our Democratic candidates on the ballot by collecting enough signatures for them THIS WEEK (not next weekend — NOW). Here’s a tweet from one of the circulators on the Navajo Nation today:
Our volunteers and PCs were also braving the wind in Buffalo Park today. (Those who volunteered yesterday had an easier time of it.) Let’s prove that neither wind nor rain nor even snow will stop our battle to save democracy. Volunteer to take a petition — check your email for detailed info about opportunities Monday – Wednesday this week. If you are not on our PC/Volunteer list and can help this week, write to or call us Monday after 8 am at 928-214-0393.
What is the new LD6? It’s a huge district, but for our purposes in Coconino County, we just need to understand that it includes all of the northeast rural areas which are north of I-40 plus the north half of Flagstaff. “North half of Flagstaff” means anything north of Route 66 on the west side of town and through Downtown (so north of the tracks, downtown), then, moving east, anything north of I-40. See a map here.
Who are the candidates? Senator Theresa Hatathlie – incumbent (replaced Senator Jamescita Peshlakai in January)
Representative Myron Tsosie – incumbent
Mae Peshlakai – candidate for House
Deydrek Scott – candidate for House
Voters in the district may sign for one Senate candidate and two House candidates
