Yesterday, in the Senate Finance Committee on a strictly partisan vote (6-4), GOP senators approved a bill that expands so-called “Empowerment Scholarships” and a separate bill to strip Superintendent Hoffman of ESA oversight.
Barely three months ago voters overwhelmingly rejected Prop 305 — the legislature’s last attempt at ESA expansion — and elected Superintendent Hoffman to lead Arizona’s Education Department and oversee the voucher program. Republicans just don’t get the message!
