Peace is the goal. World peace. A peaceful evening with the family. Peace be with you. And also with you. Lets give peace a chance, to quote the Beatles. It is all that I am saying. Love your neighbor as yourself, to quote the Prince of Peace.
The building of a Peace Temple in Williams as reported in today’s Daily Sun (6/22/19) is an inspiring and an exciting story. The builders of the temple have invited all of northern Arizona to experience the new temple. The temple is located in a beautiful area and will be a destination spot for many in the years to come.
Let’s give peace a chance internationally as well. We are now again at a crossroads in reference to peace in our own country. Just as we were in 2003, as questions were asked about the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. We are at odds with Iran as there has been an increasing number of confrontations occurring within the Straits of Hormuz. We did not rush to war 16 years ago. There was a vote in Congress. There was a decision by the President at the time. There was a public discussion. The United States ultimately made a poor decision to go to war with Iraq as there ended up NOT being any weapons of mass destruction. There was regime change. There have been hundreds of thousands of people killed and over 5 trillion dollars spent since the war with Iraq began. Hoping that we can learn as a nation from our mistakes in the Iraq, a war with Iran now, under the pretense of the shooting down of an unmanned drone and Iran causing chaos in the Straits of Hormuz, is the wrong decision. There needs to be a consensus. There needs to be a plan. At this time, the United States of America has neither.
Voice your opinion by calling your Congressman, your Senators and your President. Let them know immediately that a war with Iran is not a war you can support at this time. Circumstances may change in the future, but right now, war is not the answer to today’s impasse. Diplomacy and patience are presently the correct course of action. Not air strikes or an invasion.
