Thank you to the folks of Coconino County who came out to help our party move our City, our State, and our Nation in the direction of justice, fairness, and opportunity. To everyone who served as a precinct committee person or outreach volunteer or financial donor over the last 2 years and to everyone who stepped up in the final weeks of this campaign to

- phone bank
- run a staging location
- drive someone to the polls
- wave a sign
- bring food to nourish those doing the campaign work
- hand out literature
- explain a ballot proposition
- fulfill our obligation to monitor and assist in the Elections’ Office work

We can’t thank you enough. To all of you, rest, take a deep breath, we need you going forward, so stay in touch. We want your observations and your feedback.
A very special thank you to the candidates who took months from their lives to do the grueling job of running for office. Your willingness to do this is patriotic and we will be forever grateful. We also want to hear from you after you have a well-earned rest.
If you are a precinct committee person, come to this Saturday’s PC meeting at the Murdoch Center at 9 a.m. We’ll talk about what we can learn from this campaign and begin to think about what we can do better. We’ll also talk about our party elections coming up in January.
If you’re a volunteer who worked on the campaign and have some ideas or want to be more involved, send your thoughts in writing to or grab a member of the current Executive Committee and share your feedback.
Will Rogers said, “I’m not a member of any organized party. I’m a Democrat.” This is true because our party embraces so many hardworking and intelligent people. We often appear to splinter in too many directions and fight among ourselves. But we do share common goals. We do have mechanisms and structures in place that — if used to their fullest potential — can advance those goals. Right now and for the foreseeable future, the Democratic Party is the only vehicle to stop Trumpism. There is no Independent Party; the Green Party is weak. If we want to move forward, we must grab hold of the advantages given us by the existence of the party we have and make it into a winning force. The Democratic Party, like the country, depends on participation— we need you to turn out and then we can make change together.
This morning, Barack Obama issued a statement which concludes:
Our work goes on. The change we need won’t come from one election alone – but it is a start. Last night, voters across the country started it. And I’m hopeful that going forward, we’ll begin a return to the values we expect in our public life – honesty, decency, compromise, and standing up for one another as Americans, not separated by our differences, but bound together by one common creed.
And, John Lewis reminded us, “Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year—it is the struggle of a lifetime. Be persistent and consistent. We shall overcome.”
